The Narwal has a different mopping path than it does a vacuuming path. The robot cleans from the room of the base station to vacuum, but cleans from the farthest room for mopping (to avoid secondary contamination).

This robot mop exerts 10 Newtons of downward force and its rounded triangle mop pads spin around, simulating the same kind of cleaning that a human would use to mop a floor. Because of the mop scrubbing pads, there is a more efficient cleaning area.

The Narwal is a self-cleaning robot mop, with a base station that holds 1.3 gallons of clean water in addition to the 1.3-gallon dirty water tank. Within the base station is a tray with a textured surface for scrubbing the mop pads, and strategically-placed holes which allow the dirty water to drain out and be pumped into the dirty water tanks.

Another thing the base station does is to prime the mopping pads before the mopping cycle, moistening them with clean water. Sensors on the base station will light up to let you know when the clean water tank needs to be refilled or when the dirty water tank is full and needs to be emptied.

Via the app, you can map out the layout of your home and choose no-go zones so that your mop won’t pass over carpets or rugs. You can monitor the Narwal’s progress in real time, and the app is updated via OTA (over-the-air) updates. You can control the Narwal for spot cleaning via the phone app or the remote control.

Unlike other , this vacuum cleaner won’t stall out when it encounters sticky messes. This is due to several reasons. First, the mop pads are placed at the front of the vacuum rather than the end, resulting in more efficient liquid mopping.

Secondly, there are two rotating mop pads rather than a single, stationary one. This provides a more effective cleaning than regular robot vacuums can provide during the mop cycle. Additionally, the mopping area is around 14 inches wide, providing a better cleaning path than other robot vacuums provide.

An important difference between this robot mop & vacuum compared to other ones is that you must manually switch between the attachments to go from vacuuming mode to mopping mode. However, the bottom of the robot vacuum is magnetized, so it makes it easy to switch from the vacuum’s side brushes to its mop heads.
